I put the bowl in the microwave full of spaghetti, then I covered it with a plastic plate in order to avoid my spaghetti popping. I set the timer to 2 minutes to heat it up. And when it finished I took it out of the microwave. Ouch!!! it's so hot I couldn't remove the plastic cover on the top. It took me awhile to figure it out; I used a butter knife to release it. I know it's not a good idea to put plastic in a microwave, but I never thought anything like this would happen. I'm just being bovine... Hubby kept teasing me; but I don't care, as long I'm happy it doesn't bother me... He says microwaving plastic releases cancer-causing agents, such as Dioxin. Yuck!
He was so amused he took this photo of me trying to pry the stuck plastic plate off the bowl. The plate actually melted a little, like hot cheese. If you click the photo it should enlarge and then you can see where he sits (to my right) at the table, and against the wall on the bookshelf some of his favorite books, including The Antioxidant Miracle by Lester Packer (red spine) and Shyness and Dignity, a "fantastic" novel by Norwegian Dag Solstad. On the left is a paperback copy of 1984, his favorite book. If you look carefully you can see that I have a butter knife in my right hand. I finally used that to pry the melted plate off the bowl.
