Venus

The planet Venus. Pink, point-like, and pretty in the sky. Nighttime viewers and astronomers everywhere love this planet, which is the planet of love because it's associated with Venus, the goddess of love. But the most amazing fact about Venus is something you'll probably find hard to believe. Evidence exists — strong evidence, too — that Venus wasn't always the second planet out from the Sun. No, Venus actually moved into its present orbit relatively recently in astronomical time. And I hope you're prepared for a shock: planets in our solar system exploded. There is a lot of evidence for this, including the maria (dark spots) on the Moon and the presence of cosmic debris from the explosion in the form of comets! Read Tom Van Flandern's The Exploded Planet Hypothesis for more on this sizzling theory.
