Flowers
What I like most about flowers is the way they reflect and refract light up onto people's faces and they way they waver in the breeze while doing this; in fact, once I was going for a walk with my friend Mildred, who is a poet who lives in Princeton, New Jersey, and she has a very fair complexion and fair skin and when we passed a row of yellow dandelions and crocuses she stopped, bent down to look, and smiled, and at that moment the sun reflected off the flowers, a soft yellow-gold tint up onto her face, playing light off her pale face with washes of yellow and ivory and gold that moved subtly as the breeze disturbed the flowers, so that as I saw this changing display of color I wished I was Claude Monet with the ability to paint a portrait of what I saw.
