An awesome developer contest!
There's one thing that I always enjoy, and that's a good contest between sports teams, political parties, or simply between me and the contest sponsor. IDUG contest is a contest that is easy to enter and the prizes are out of this world. The entire purpose of the contest is educational. By this I mean they want to educate you, the students, professionals, and hobbyists who might like to learn more about XQuery, XML and DB2. In this contest there is a little adventure awaiting you. Adventure always intrigues me. How about you? The adventure lies in the fact that there are five different methods for people of different skill levels to enter. And the good part is you can enter through one track or through all five! Isn't that neat? For example, one of the methods of winning is the video contest, in which you can upload a video. The video is judged by the community and there are prizes every month. Sounds like you have a pretty decent chance to win there. Another track is the gadget contest, in which you create a tiny gadget. Same judging rules apply. Then there's the XQuery challenge, in which you reply to a group of questions by developing queries in XQuery. Correct answers are entered in the contest to win bigger prizes. And yet another track is port an existing application to use XML, XQuery or DB2. This one is judged by a panel. Finally you could develop a new application using XML or XQuery. If you've got the skills or the inclination, why not enter today? You might beat out the competition and take home first prize. And the good thing is you can enter and then take your time to finish your projects and developments.
