Sending Money

One of my friends called me last night about the site xoom.com. Actually, I just recently used xoom.com for sending money back home. I used western union before but I switched to xoom now because it's cheaper. Well, my friend asked me about how long the processing of xoom takes before the recipient can pick up. She was wondering because she used this once before and it was quick but now it's getting slower. She sent the money the other day but apparently it's still in process. So, I advised her to call their customer service to clarify what's going on. I'm just hoping she gets through. Now, I am confused about whether I should use this company again myself. I read a lot of reviews against them, which makes me get nervous about using them again. Anyway, guys, maybe you might be interested in getting some free insurance quotes in the future. Check this out today!

Empty Mind

I ran out of ideas and thoughts today. It seems my mind is empty. I can hardly think what to write in my blog; in short, I am speechless. But I'm trying to finish all my tasks tonight because we will be away for 2 days. I'm not sure if I can have an internet connection where we're staying. Oh, boy, maybe I'll be in trouble if I can't finish my task. It's late at night already, I should be in bed now so that I can get up early tomorrow. We're leaving early in the morning to catch the Metro North train at the Grand Central station. Hellllllllp...

Short Visit

I'm glad to have seen my girlfriend today; she came over to see my daughter. We had turkey sandwiches for snacks, orange juice for drinks and ice cream for dessert. She held my baby while I was preparing the food; we chatted a little bit, then afterward she rested for a few minutes. I offered to give her dinner but she refused to accept because she wanted to get home. Well, it was just a short visit; she is really a good friend of mine. Then, she told me that she is going to have a pvc fence installation at her house.

Cooking

Since we're running out of fresh food in the refrigerator I decided to cook the corned beef. But unfortunately we ran out of onions too. I was surprised that my hubby went out yesterday to get lettuce but didn't remember onions. Obviously he always uses onions for his vegetable salad. I started laughing; I was starving and I was dying to have onions because it's been a long time since I had them. I miss them so badly. So he made up for it by ordering food delivered to our apartment. And I admit that was better than the onions. By the way, I have to check Dansko first before I forget.

Baby Shower

Kate's cousin is going to have a baby shower tomorrow. We got the invitation months ago. Our plan is to stay one night at the nearest hotel there after the shower. Well, we can really come back home on the same day if we want to. But we both agreed that it's better to stay there and relax for one night. Then, come back home the next day. Hubby is so busy with his writing and preparing for his class on Monday. He is going to check 70 essays from his class. So, I suggested he bring my laptop so that he can do some work while we're there. I think it's a great idea, what do you think?

Wristwatch

I admit that I like a good wristwatch, and I also admit that I like the very sleek and classic line Jaeger best of all. Jaeger watches are slim, functional, and well designed and manufactured. I like to imagine what type of wristwatch my favorite literary character wore. So, if you are thinking of buying a good watch for yourself, check this out. The site have a wide variety of watch and a great discount.

Pizza

I ordered large Hawaiian pizza for my dinner. It's been awhile since I had it. I'm not really crazy about it or in other words, it's not my favorite dish. Hubby loves it but he always resists eating it. He has his own world of diet ideas. He's so picky and careful about food. He wants all organic if possible. And also he always reads the ingredients before buying anything. He keeps telling me to stop drinking soda but I get tempted and I can't resist. He only drinks distilled water and carbonated. He eats steamed mix vegetables, salad, and fruits every day. And never forgets to take his food supplement too. Anyway, if you are looking additional accessories to your bathroom, bath fixtures is here for you.

Exercise

After my pregnancy I obviously gained weight. I used to be 118 lbs and went up to 150 lbs due to my pregnancy. But now it is sad to say that it is difficult for me to be back to normal the way that I used to be. I didn't think about doing exercise after the birth of my child. I thought that I would stay the same like when I was single. I feel very disappointed whenever I look at myself in the mirror. My weight is overbearing, like a balloon. I know that this is caused by lack of exercise, and also my diet. I don't have self-discipline about food, if it looks good and tasty I don't have any hesitation about it. I admit that it is a big mistake. Now I feel sorry for myself; it is a lot of work to loose weight and I should have to focus on it, or else I'll suffer my entire life...

MySuit New York | Made to Measure Suits

Few people have had the pleasure of being fitted for a Made to measure suit, that is, a suit which is a perfect fit for you and you alone. I, however, was fortunate enough to go in for a fitting at the MySuit store in New York City. It is located very conveniently near Macy's. The address is 1270 Broadway (at 33rd Street), New York, NY 10001 (in case you want to find it on Google Earth or MapQuest!) I didn't know what to expect the first time I arrived. I entered a store that looks and feels like the suit department of Lord & Taylor or Brooks Brothers. The facility is brand new and has a waxed wood floor. There are rows upon rows of suits on racks, and in the center aisle is an "S"-shaped rack with swatches of fabric. The most impressive thing was the rainbow display of cashmere blazers, from navy to pale blue to lime green to beige and lemon. I never had a lime green cashmere blazer, but now I'm dying to try one!

My experience was totally favorable. The clerks were very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned that they take the measurements in the store and then send them to Mexico, where the suits are fabricated. Then the suit comes back to the New York store and you go in for the second fitting. They actually have tailors upstairs who do the final adjustments. The nice thing is that all their suits and blazers have functional sleeve buttonholes. I asked whether Tom Wolfe had been there yet, and they said they're still awaiting him. I'm going back for my second fitting later this month and will report further in this blog. In my opinion, the experience was totally positive. They even let me order my suit jacket with sleeves both the same size. Why is this good? Because most men have different size arms, so custom made suits typically are lopsided as far as jacket arm length, to match your physical measurements. This means that unless you get custom made shirts you're going to have a discrepancy between jacket length and shirt length (since all off the rack shirts have sleeves the same length). This makes you look uneven. But with my bright idea to have the jacket sleeves the same length I can still use off the rack shirts and look great.

The people at MySuit explained that they are part of a very large company and that they actually make suits for other stores, like Brooks Brothers! Their Web site is www.MySuitNY.com.

Time is Gold

Well, as others have said, "Time is money." For me, in order to manage my time, I wear my watch every day from morning to evening. But for those people who don't have a watch yet, maybe you might consider buying one of the best replica watches. In fact, they have a wide selection. It's a great gift also for your special someone. Just think about it. And remember that time is money.

Mission Accomplished

As I said in my previous post, I'm was planning to put my middle name on my SS card. Well, I did it the other day. Actually, there was no problem with adding my middle name. I brought some documents for the proof that was required. It was quick and easy. I just want to prevent any hassles in the future. So, I tried to fix everything. I think it was worth it even if there was a long line when I went there. There was a long wait but it didn't prevent me from getting the job done. I was extra patient when I was there. Now, I'm just waiting for my new card, which will arrive next week.

Coolest Baby Clothes

Not everyone is content to play with a Barbie doll. Some people like to take things one step further and try the experience of having a real baby of their own. This is all about the real world. And it's all about what happens when you need to dress your baby up in baby clothes. For instance, at theretrobaby.com the selection of baby clothes is enormous. They have what are called baby onesies at their site. This is a garment that is in one piece but it covers all the baby. This means he will be free of having to wear a shirt and pants separately. The onsie will do it all. This means you will have less to launder and less to worry about losing! That's something to think about next time you have a baby. Dressing a baby in these baby clothes would make any mother or father happy because the fashions are perfect for the modern world. The favorite item we saw on the site TheRetroBaby.com was the Ninja Baby Hooded Romper. It is an action garment for an active baby. I can imagine a baby having fun wearing it. More than that, I bet the baby would even remember it when he grew up. How's that for memorable clothing!

Soap Opera

I really enjoy watching TFC soap opera every day. I do it religiously. My day is not complete if I miss it. One of my favorite programs is Tayong Dalawa. I have never missed it since it started. My daughter likes their theme song too, whenever the song comes on she will turn her head toward the TV screen even she if she is very busy playing with her toys. I guess we're both now addicted to it. Kate loves to listen to music anyway. Maybe she will be a musician some day, how I wish.

Dried Fish

I bought dried fish from the Filipino market last week. Then I fried it this morning for my breakfast. My hubby doesn't like the smell, but I understand because for people not used to it, for them it's stinky. Perhaps it's delicious to me. I don't eat this every day, just maybe once in a while. However, it's sad to say that when I grew up I had this almost every day. This kind of food is very affordable especially to a poor family. My parents were so thrifty in those days, they were always worried if we had enough money to buy more food for the next day. So they tried their best to save more for the coming days ahead. And I really appreciate what they did. It was a big help for both of us that we never suffered from the starvation. Well, I guess in that time the digital cameras didn't exist yet.

Late Valentines Date

We had a late Valentine's date last night because hubby just arrived from his 1 week trip in his school lecture. We went to a hotel restaurant nearby to us. This hotel just opened a couple of weeks ago. It's a kind of romantic place too, you can tell by the name of their restaurant. They named it Half Moon. But I'm not happy because their food was not exactly topnotch. I ordered baked salmon with spinach and it cost us $32.00; the piece was quite small and didn't have good taste. I wish they had larger portions and that their chef would learn a few tricks from Julia Child. There is another restaurant that is closer to us and they have nice things on the menu. We didn't go there because we need a change sometimes. Hubby and I both agreed that's our first and last date there. Next time we're going to read reviews of the restaurants we patronize before going. We think that is a prudent course of action. Besides, it's fun to read reviews. Then there's less risk when going to a new place.

Taxi

I remembered that I rode in a taxi somewhere in New Jersey and I passed a phone booth. I wanted to make a call toll free. But I did not stop. I'm not sure about getting a license because I never drive. I'm not interested yet in learning how to drive. Most of my friends here have already obtained a driver's license. I think sooner or later I'll practice too. All I care about right now is my SS card because I forgot to put my middle name on it. I'm planning to go to their office tomorrow to correct the errors. I hope the clerk will approve putting my middle name on my card. I'm going to bring some documents too, to prove that I have the right middle name. Good Luck to me. This is really a big deal for me because my green card has a middle name on it. I want all my cards to be the same.

First Time Ever

Today, I was very courageous and took Kate to the Medical Center for her therapy session. Hubby wanted to cancel it because he is so busy preparing his book and also for his trip tomorrow. So, I decided to go with Kate alone. I was a little bit nervous though about getting in and out with her in the taxi. It's quite tough for me since the weather is nasty. Plus, it's a lot of work putting the stroller in the trunk and putting her in the car seat too. But I did it. Now, I am confident taking her anytime to her therapy session. Of course Mike came along in the taxi both times and was there to help too. Then I told to the driver to get a cheap car insurance for his own car.

Crazy Weather

What crazy weather this week! The other day the temperature was around 50 and I was surprised. I went out to do some errands. I was so happy because it was like summer. I stayed out a little while then I came back home and took Kate with me. We had a nice walk along the river. But today it's snowy outside. I didn't know till I went out. Well, I didn't check the weather either before I went out. I learned my lesson. Next time I should check the weather first before going outside to prevent any hassle. I hope the summer comes soon. (Photo of the trees behind our house this week.)

Pecans

Now, my favorite nuts are roasted pecans. In fact, I bought three bags of pecans yesterday. And I roasted them in the oven for about 30 minutes. I had a lot of fun last night cracking the pecans. It's like I'm doing a finger exercise. It was tough breaking the shells. I lost my energy. Well, anyway, don't forget to check sexy lingerie guys. Maybe some of you might be interested in it.

Games Online

I'm now crazy about playing this battle word game. I just recently found this game two days ago. I'm not a good player yet, but I hope to be soon; and yet I still like it because it's very challenging. I keep losing to my opponents from various other countries. Well, they're experts, so I'm not going to worry. I've been trying to beat them but I'm usually disappointed. I still don't give up though; maybe later on I can pick up some techniques from them. If you want to try this game just simply log on at www.king.com. They have different kinds of games that you might be interested in playing.
